Course Information
Basic Observation training is a vital component of practice for healthcare assistants and other professionals working within hospital, community and acute care environments. It equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to accurately monitor, assess, and interpret vital signs and other key clinical indicators, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
This course explores the reasons observations are carried out, when they should be taken, and the correct methods for completing them. Learners will gain an understanding of normal physiological ranges, how to record observations accurately, and the appropriate actions to take when results fall outside expected parameters.
The training provides a comprehensive and highly valuable foundation in clinical monitoring, covering temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, blood glucose levels, specimen observations, neurological assessments, and the principles of caring for an unconscious patient.
Through this structured and practical approach, participants develop the confidence and competence needed to contribute effectively to patient monitoring within hospital settings.
