Course Information
Catheter care is an essential aspect of safe clinical practice, and this course provides learners with the knowledge and skills required to care for and maintain urinary catheters effectively. The training focuses on how to deliver catheter care safely, reduce the risk of infection, and minimise complications associated with both urethral and suprapubic catheters. Learners gain a clear understanding of best‑practice principles, routine maintenance, and the importance of recognising early signs of catheter‑related issues.
This course is ideal for care staff who support individuals with urethral or suprapubic urinary catheters as part of their daily care needs. It is designed to enhance confidence, competence, and person‑centred practice. Registered nurses who have already completed formal Catheterisation training do not need to attend this Catheter Care course.
