By the end of this training, delegates will have a clear understanding of the indications for catheterisation, how to select the appropriate equipment, and the procedures involved in carrying out the intervention safely.

 

The full‑day session also provides the opportunity to participate in a supervised simulated workstation, allowing learners to develop confidence and competence through hands‑on practice.

  • Definitions and methods of catheterisation

  • Understand the advantages and risks of urethral and suprapubic catheterisation

  • Indications for urethral and suprapubic catheterisation

  • Contraindications to catheterisation Urological anatomy and physiology male and female

  • Post procedure catheter positioning

  • Post procedure check list

  • Daily care of catheter systems including record keeping

  • Male and/or female and/or supra pubic catheterisation procedure 

  • Ethical and legal responsibilities
