About the Course
Cerebral Palsy Awareness Training
This Cerebral Palsy Awareness training course has been developed for healthcare assistants and care staff who support individuals living with Cerebral Palsy. The session provides a clear understanding of what Cerebral Palsy is, how it develops, and the wide‑ranging impact it can have on movement, coordination, communication, and daily living.
Cerebral Palsy refers to a group of lifelong conditions caused by an injury or problem affecting the developing brain before, during, or shortly after birth. By understanding the physical, cognitive, and emotional complexities of the condition, staff are better equipped to tailor support, communicate effectively, manage symptoms, and promote independence and dignity.
By the end of the course, delegates will feel more confident in recognising the causes and symptoms of Cerebral Palsy, understanding diagnostic processes, and supporting individuals with informed, person‑centred approaches that respect choice, autonomy, and safety.
