About the Course
Ligature Awareness Training
This Ligature Awareness training course is designed for healthcare and social care staff who may encounter ligature risks within their working environment. The session equips delegates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to recognise, assess, and respond safely to ligature incidents, including the effective use of ligature cutters during emergency situations.
Understanding ligature risks is essential for maintaining safety in clinical and care settings. This course increases awareness of common ligature points, early warning signs, and the physical effects of ligature injuries. Delegates will also learn safe, coordinated rescue techniques to support both individual and team responses, always prioritising dignity, safety, and rapid intervention.
Training is delivered through tutor‑led presentations, group discussion, practical demonstrations, and scenario‑based role‑play. Participants are encouraged to reflect on real‑world examples from their practice, with confidentiality and anonymity maintained throughout.
