This Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Awareness training course provides nurses, HCAs, and care staff with a clear understanding of MS, its causes, symptoms, and progression, and how it affects the daily lives of those living with the condition. The session explores the physical, cognitive, and emotional impact of MS and equips staff with practical strategies to deliver personalised, supportive, and empowering care.
Participants will gain insight into how MS is diagnosed and treated, how symptoms may fluctuate, and how to adapt care approaches to promote independence, safety, and quality of life. The course is ideal for anyone supporting individuals with MS in residential, community, or healthcare settings.

Introduction to Multiple Sclerosis Understanding what MS is and how it affects the central nervous system
Causes of MS Exploring current knowledge around risk factors and contributing mechanisms
Progression of MS How the condition develops over time and the different types of MS
Symptoms of MS Recognising physical, sensory, cognitive, and emotional symptoms
Diagnosis How MS is identified, including assessments and investigations
Treatment options Overview of medication, therapies, and symptom‑management approaches
Managing MS Practical strategies to support daily living, mobility, fatigue, and wellbeing
