Safeguarding of Adults Training
This Safeguarding of Adults training course provides nurses, HCAs, care staff, and social care workers with the essential knowledge and skills needed to protect adults who may be at risk of abuse or neglect. The session explores the principles of adult safeguarding, the legal duties placed on professionals, and the practical steps required to recognise, respond to, and report concerns appropriately.
Participants will develop confidence in identifying signs of harm, understanding who may be vulnerable, and taking proportionate action to ensure safety and dignity. The course emphasises person‑centred practice, professional curiosity, and the importance of working within legal and organisational frameworks to uphold the rights and wellbeing of adults at risk.
Course Content
The syllabus includes:
Types of abuse Understanding the different forms of harm and how they may present
Recognising signs and symptoms Identifying physical, emotional, behavioural, and environmental indicators
Who is vulnerable or at risk Exploring factors that increase vulnerability and reduce resilience
The role of dignity in safeguarding Promoting respect, autonomy, and person‑centred decision‑making
Legislation, policy, and procedure Understanding legal responsibilities and organisational frameworks
Radicalisation awareness Definitions, warning signs, and preventative measures
Responding to concerns What to do when you are worried about an adult’s safety
Handling disclosures How to respond sensitively and appropriately when an individual shares a concern
